The White Knights (Les Chevaliers Blancs)

Joachim Lafosse / France, Belgium / 2015 / 112 mins / French and Arabic with English subtitles / Narrative

“A provocative and probing new drama from Belgian auteur Joachim Lafosse.”
THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER

Winner of Best Director at San Sebastian Film Festival, Les Chevaliers Blancs follows a fictional humanitarian organisation that claims to provide better lives for orphans in an unspecified African country. Taking as its starting point the real life 2007 controversy around the ‘Zoe’s Ark’ organisation, the film paints a quietly damning portrait of the moral ambiguity of choices made by foreign aid workers who believe they are working for the greater good. With a cast led by stalwart of French social-realist cinema Vincent Lindon (The Measure of a Man, HRAFF 2016), the film takes viewers on an engaging and at times uncomfortable journey towards its thought provoking conclusion.
